Arcadia Contemporary is proud to present Night Moves, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Stephen Fox, his first with the gallery after more than a decade of collaboration since 2014.
Fox explores the American night as a space where familiar places take on a heightened, almost symbolic presence. Drive-in theaters and solitary roadside structures appear suspended between the physical world and something more interior.
Central to the exhibition, the drive-in becomes a site of overlapping realities, a glowing screen casting fragments of shared imagery into the surrounding darkness. Rather than referencing specific films, these images echo through cultural memory and subtly transform the landscape around them. Throughout Night Moves, light activates each scene. Fog, trees, and distant forms emerge and recede within its glow, while illuminated phone booths stand as quiet, almost ceremonial points of connection. The result is a body of work that lingers at the edge of visibility, where atmosphere, memory, and place briefly converge.
The exhibition will open with an artist reception on Saturday, May 9th from 5–7 pm. All are welcome and it is open to the public.
